Pot Petitions Hit Mailboxes Across Florida

Will Floridians successfully legalize marijuana?

Voters all over Florida have begun receiving petitions for an adult-use cannabis amendment that will potentially legalize the drug for those 21+, regardless if they require it medically or not. With that being said individuals 21 years and older will legally be able to possess, use, purchase and transport up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and paraphernalia.
“Pot. Weed. Marijuana. Cannabis. It doesn’t matter what you call it, MAKE IT LEGAL”
Make it Legal Florida, is one of three groups actively working towards a pot amendment, that has sent fliers with a perforated petition voters can fill out and mail in. They want to make it as easy as possible for voters to sign the petition, maybe it's due to stereotypical stoner mentality but who doesn't like things made simple. In addition to the mailed petitions, Make it Legal has gone to even further lengths to hire petition gatherers and has a form available online to download. Signing this petition is as easy as 1,2,3; Just sign, date, and return. The company has personalized each mail piece with the voters name and address already printed on the form.
A poll conducted for the group found 67 percent of Floridians support recreational cannabis. But fact is that Florida needs at least 766,200 signatures to be submitted to the secretary of state on or before Feb. 1, 2020. Being one of the strictest legalization efforts this state has seen it will require cannabis sales to occur within existing medical dispensaries and it would obstruct advertising that caters to kids.
The group has already brought in more than $1 million.
Meantime, Sensible Florida – behind what’s known as the “Regulate” initiative – has raised $180,000 while Floridians For Freedom has raised just $22,000.

Why make it legal?

  • Boost our economy and generate more than a hundred million dollars per year in new revenue to fund important priorities such as schools, health care and public safety.
  • Help combat the opioid addiction crisis and free up law enforcement to protect us from violent criminals and sexual predators.
  • The amendment includes strict rules to make sure that marijuana products are clearly labeled, childproof, and not advertised to children.
